Candidates for the MS program must be accepted to the HSPA residency program by participating in the ASHP residency matching program. Once accepted to the University of Utah Health HSPA residency programs, residents apply to the University of Utah Graduate School for admission to the MS program. Deadline for the Graduate School application is usually around April 1 so candidates need to apply quickly once they have been accepted to the residency program to avoid late fees.

Program Description
The Master of Science in Health System Pharmacy Administration (HSPA) is designed to train future health –system pharmacy leaders. It is only offered in conjunction with the Health System Pharmacy Administration & Leadership (HSPAL) 2 year residency programs offered at University of Utah Health. More information on the ASHP-accredited HSPA residencies is available at https://pharmacyservices.utah.edu/residency/index.php .

In the curriculum, the first year of the program offers courses specific to health system pharmacy leadership and management. Elective courses are selected in conjunction with the student’s HSPAL residency director to complement specific student interests.
