Program Description

Larkin University College of Pharmacy (LUCOP) Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSPS) Program is designed for students seeking careers in pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, governmental agencies (FDA, NIH), drug discovery and development, biomedical and clinical research, regulatory sciences, healthcare organizations, and health outcomes research. The program also provides a strong foundation for students pursuing PhD, PharmD, MD, DO, or other advanced professional degrees.

About the Program
Larkin University College of Pharmacy's MSPS is an interdisciplinary graduate program designed to prepare students for careers in pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical research, healthcare, and health outcomes. The program combines rigorous coursework, hands-on learning, faculty mentorship, research experience, and professional development.

Areas of Specialization
Students may specialize in one of four areas:
1. Medicinal Chemistry
2. Pharmaceutics,
3. Pharmacology & Toxicology
4. Pharmacoeconomics & Health Outcomes
Training consists of a sequence of required core courses, elective courses, research rotations, internships, seminars and journal clubs, and a capstone project or thesis.

Program Pathway
Students may pursue either a thesis or non-thesis (capstone) pathway. The thesis pathway requires a minimum of 36 graduate credits and includes faculty-mentored original research, a written thesis, and a thesis defense. The non-thesis pathway requires a minimum of 30 graduate credits and culminates in an applied capstone project.
Training encompasses drug discovery and development, computational and experimental approaches, drug formulation and delivery, pharmacology and toxicology, health economics, outcomes research, and real-world evidence.

Program Delivery
Based on the concentration and program pathway (thesis/non-thesis), the mode of delivery can be on-campus and online (synchronous and/or asynchronous).
