Program Description:
PhD Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers PhD training through the College of Graduate Health Sciences. Our program provides deep expertise, hands-on research experience, and the skills to tackle important challenges in drug discovery and patient care.
Choose from four research areas:
1. Therapeutic Targets & Molecular Mechanisms of Disease. Discover how disease works—and identify new ways to treat it. Investigate molecular pathways and validate therapeutic targets for cancer, neurological, metabolic, and infectious diseases.
2. Medicinal Chemistry. Design better medicines. Discover, design, synthesize, and optimize small molecules with therapeutic potential, using chemical and biological approaches to improve drug activity, selectivity, and properties.
3. Drug Discovery & Development. Move promising compounds toward new therapies. Evaluate drug candidates through integrated pharmacological, biological, and translational approaches to advance potential treatments for human disease.
4. Pharmacometrics. Use quantitative science to understand drugs. Apply mathematical and computational models to predict drug exposure, response, and variability across patients and disease states.
