The program is interdisciplinary, covering areas of pharmacology, physiology, pharmaceutics, toxicology and medicinal chemistry. Students complete a curriculum that includes 14 credits of required courses and 9 credits of elective courses (thesis track) or 19 credits of elective courses (non-thesis track). Thesis track students work with a faculty research mentor to develop and complete a thesis project that represents original research. Faculty research interests include drug discovery and development; molecular modeling; chemical synthesis; studies of drug mechanisms and pharmacological actions; pharmacokinetic analysis; and cytochrome P450 polymorphisms. This path is ideal for those interested in working as research scientists in industry or pursuing PhD or MD degrees. Non-thesis track students complete a capstone writing project enabling them to explore, in-depth, a topic of their choice related to the pharmaceutical sciences. Internship opportunities are available at Regeneron for students who are US citizens or have a Green card. Regeneron accepts students for paid internships for the spring semester of the second year of the program. pgrad_pubpriv: Private pgrad_qualify: 'Not Required' pgrad_quant: '' pgrad_recommended_overall_gpa_considered: '3.0' pgrad_semi: 'Not Required' pgrad_thesis: Varies pgrad_toefl_req: 'TOEFL or IELTS' pgrad_unk_jb_plce: '' pgrad_verbal: '' pg_last_year_average_gpa: '' pg_last_year_number_accepted: '12' phgd_pi_video_embed: format: restricted_html value: '<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/eLbUtRMyA3M" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>' program_deadline_done: - 'Yes' program_description_done: - 'Yes' program_location: NY program_name: 'Pharmaceutical Sciences' program_start_term: - Fall program_statistics_graduated: 'Yes' program_statistics_previous: 'Yes' program_stats_done: - 'Yes' required_rotations: - PGRAD_RESE rolling_admissions: - 'Yes' school_city: Albany school_country: US school_state: NY school_street_1: '106 New Scotland Avenue' school_street_2: '' school_street_3: '' school_zip: '12203' short_name: 'Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences-79' sids: '79' type_of_financial_support_available: - PGRAD_RES - PGRAD_DEPT
