    Applicants for graduate degree programs must meet the admission requirements as given in the Graduate School Catalog of the University. The Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences Graduate Program committee will sort applications according to the applicants' research interests or specialty based on the application files and/or statements. The sorted applications will be reviewed and evaluated by the prospective academic unit.
    Academic units will evaluate the applicants based on their academic performance, interview scores, personal statement, experience and availability of faculty as advisor to determine the qualification and potential of the students. If the applicant is from a non-native English-speaking country or the principal language of the instruction is not English, a score of Test of English as a Foreign Language and Test of Spoken English will be evaluated as set in the admission criteria.

    Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences is a multidisciplinary graduate program. The Program is composed of two departments from the Thomas J. Long (TJL) School of Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacy Practice) and one department (Chemistry) from the College of the Pacific. The research focus areas in the Program are:

    • Bioanalytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Biochemistry
    • Chemical Synthesis, Drug Discovery and Design
    • Biopharmaceutical Sciences
    • Molecular-Cellular Physiology and Pharmacology
    • Health Care Outcomes and Clinical Services.

    The Program offers Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences. A dual degree program of Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and PhD is offered in conjunction with the professional degree in the School of Pharmacy.
